Ethics and Communication: Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna takes the spotlight at InspiringPR 2025, the Public Relations Festival
Professor Alberto Pirni Among the Speakers at the Public Relations Festival in Venice: An Opportunity to Discuss the Role of Communication in Contemporary Society

The Sant'Anna School of Advaced Studies took part in InspiringPR 2025, the Public Relations Festival organized by the Italian Public Relations Federation (FERPI), held in Venice on May 16–17. Now in its eleventh edition, the Festival has established itself as one of the most important events in the national communication landscape, successfully blending professional experiences with theoretical reflection in a high-level cultural setting.
The theme chosen for the 2025 edition, “Ethics and Communication”, placed the spotlight on the deep connection between responsibility, transparency, trust, and public narrative. In an era where information flows are increasingly fast and pervasive—and communication significantly shapes the perception of social, political, and economic phenomena—reflecting on the ethical principles that should guide communicators has become essential.
Among the invited speakers, Professor Alberto Pirni, Associate Professor of Moral Philosophy at the DIRPOLIS Institute of the Sant’Anna School, delivered a thought-provoking and culturally rich contribution. His talk emphasized that communication ethics should not be seen as an ancillary discipline but as a foundational element in understanding and shaping the relational dynamics that permeate every sphere of contemporary society.
In particular, his presentation focused on the idea that communication is not simply about transferring information, but about creating relationships, constructing shared meaning, and fostering mutual trust. Ethical communication, therefore, cannot overlook a reflection on individual and collective responsibility, the consequences of words and images, and the need to promote an inclusive language that respects complexity.
In the days leading up to the Festival, Professor Pirni was interviewed for the official channels of InspiringPR. The interview, available at this link, previewed the main themes of his talk and offered the public an insightful look at key issues shaping the current debate. It also served as an opportunity to highlight the Sant’Anna School’s scientific contribution within a national context.
The School’s participation in the Festival is fully aligned with its mission to foster dialogue between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Consistently committed to ensuring that scientific research engages with real-world challenges, the Sant’Anna School found in InspiringPR 2025 a valuable moment of constructive exchange - a space where its voice could help promote a communication culture rooted in values of responsibility, reflectivity, and openness.
